Dare Media Productions founder Darren O'Mahony hails from Tipperary. He studied Media Production in Stillorgan, Dublin before moving to Cork City and studying Film and Video Production at St. John's Central College Cork, working on multiple short films over the next few years. Darren founded Dare Media Productions to create exciting and dramatic film and video content.
Darren also founded and served as Festival Director at the UnderGround Film Festival in Cork City from 2011 to 2016, screening short and feature films from over forty countries. In 2015 Darren was part of the International Jury at the Cantabria film festival "Pielagos En Corto"

This year Darren is again returning to Spain as part of the judging panel at Pielagos En Corto as well as judging at the Irish Professional Photography & Videography Awards.


Darren currently works as Director and Producer for his own production company Dare Media Productions and has produced multi-awarding shorts such as “The Marksman and Siege of Paris”. In 2022 Darren co-produced the inaugural Puttnam Script Award-winning short film “Wireless” which has screened at OSCAR & BAFTA qualifying festivals. "Wireless" has since been picked up by Aer Lingus for their In-Flight Entertainment.
